Position Title: Audio-Visual Manager
Department: Facilities and Operations
Supervision: This position reports to the Assistant Director of PSU over Facilities & Operations.
Position Summary:
The Audio-Visual Manager functions as the building’s technical expert in regard to all AV equipment used for events at the PSU. The AV manager must coordinate and train the AV technician student staff to best meet the needs of Student Union guests and clients.
General Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Participate in recruitment and selection process for AV tech staff hires.
- Train staff in the proper operation of all PSU technical equipment to ensure everyone is able to understand and execute in their role.
- Serve as the subject matter expert to AV tech staff.
- Schedule staff to set up and work all events requiring tech support.
- Monitor timesheets and tech sheets to verify proper recordkeeping.
- Organize and maintain technical equipment and storage room.
- Maintain A/V inventory and report missing/damaged items immediately.
- Plan and facilitate equipment purchases in coordination with supervisor.
- Attend OMT staff meetings and training sessions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Requisite Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
- The A/V Manager is a student employee and must meet all University requirements to work on campus.
- Minimum GPA: 2.5
- Minimum enrolled credit hours for U.S. & International students.
- Strong knowledge of sound and projection systems used in the PSU.
- Proven leadership, communication, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift items up to 50 lbs.
- Openness to working in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work with people from different backgrounds.
- Positive customer-oriented attitude and professional image.
- Flexible hours for availability (including evenings & weekends).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of lighting systems.
- Supervisory experience.
Schedule:
- Average of 15-20 hours/week.
- Schedule varies based on events and meetings.

Schedule:
- Average of 10-20 hours/week.
- Schedule varies based on events and meetings.
General Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret room diagrams to ensure proper set-up for events.
- Set-up and troubleshoot audio visual equipment including video projectors, computers, soundboards, microphones, and portable sound systems.
- Respond to requests from building managers and event coordinators.
- Assist managers in responding to emergency situations.
- Inspect equipment for damage and communicate issues that need addressed.
- Assist guests and event attendees with tech equipment.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Requisite Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
- AV Tech members are student employees and must meet all University requirements to work on campus.
- Minimum GPA: 2.0
- Minimum enrolled credit hours for U.S. & International students.
- Basic knowledge of technical equipment (computers, projectors, microphones).
- Ability to follow directions and manage time.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Flexible hours for availability (including evenings & weekends).
- Ability to problem solve and maintain composure in stressful situations.
- Positive customer-oriented attitude and professional image.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Theatrical lighting experience.
- Extensive sound and projection experience.
