*One science choice must include a lab and overall total of Life Science and Physical Science must be minimum 7 credit hours. Specific elective hours needed may vary depending on choices made in general education and transfer work. Students may select any courses of their choosing as electives. However, commonly electives are taken in the fields of child and family development (CFD), gerontology (GER), psychology (PSY), nutrition and dietetics (DTN), business (BUS, MKT, ACC, LAW, FIN, ITC), health care management (HCM), interprofessional education (IPE), foreign languages including American Sign Language (SPN, FRN, GRM, KOR, JPN, ITL, CSD), and many more.
 
*CSD 210 is available as a block class in the spring semester.
**CSD 484 Practice Setting is a recommended electie course only offered in the summer semester.
***CSD 351 Medical Terminology in CSD is a recommended elective course offered in the spring.

Major Admission Requirements

  1. Achievement of at least a 3.0 GPA on all coursework attempted.
  2. Completion of a minimum of 50 hours of credit, which includes the following:
    1. Chemistry or Physics.
    2. Biology or Biomedical Sciences.
    3. College math (MTH 134 or higher).

Information to keep in mind:

  • All students need a minimum of 120 total hours to complete a degree.
  • Most CSD course are offered once a year (the semester in which they appear on the plan).
  • "GEC" is not a course code, but a reference to a general education category from which students can choose a course from a list of options.
  • CSD majors CANNOT take PHY 101 or BIO 100 to meed major requirements.
  • CSD majors CANNOT be taken more than twice.
