Major requirements (42 hours):

Note: three hours may double count toward the General Education requirements.

  1. Specific General Education Requirement: MED 120(3).
  2. Departmental required courses: MED 130(3), 304(3), 581(3).
  3. Film Studies core: MED 274(3), 374(3), 375(3), 570(3).
  4. Screenwriting core: MED 360(3), 565(3), 566(3), 567(3), 569(3).
  5. Electives: three hours from MED 300(3), 325(3), 454(3), 463(3), 464(3), 470(3), 492(3), 595(3), 597(3).
  6. Public Affairs Capstone Experience will be fulfilled by completion of MED 581(3).
  7. Minor required (or second major). Note: Students may not minor in Screenwriting or Film Studies. No course may count for both the Screenwriting and Film Studies major and a minor within the department.
  8. Specific Bachelor of Arts Degree Requirements

Note: When applicable, MED 300 Special Topics in Media, MED 470 Advanced Topics in Film, MED 492 Independent Study in Electronic Media, and MED 597 Advanced Studies in Media may be used in category, with advisor approval. When applicable, no more than two courses from other departments may be substituted for the optional courses, with advisor approval.
