Dr. Melinda Novik, Kinesiology, was named a recipient of the 2019 Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Gov. Mike Parson and members of the Missouri Coordinating Board for Higher Education will recognize Dr. Melinda Novik and others for their achievements.
The Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching is presented to an outstanding faculty member from each participating higher education institution in the state. The awards, which are not monetary, are based on effective teaching, effective advising, service to the university community, commitment to high standards of excellence and success in nurturing student achievement. Dr. Novick’s research interests include college health, co-occurring behaviors and multilevel health influences. Her professional interests include professional development and health promotion pedagogy. She has won and has been nominated for many MSU awards including outstanding graduate mentor, excellence in advising nominee, and outstanding graduate mentor nominee. She also served as a service learning faculty fellow.
She received her Ph.D. from the University of Maryland School of Public Health.
