Eligibility
BEFORE student teaching, teacher candidates must complete the following:
- Admission to Teacher Education Program
- Professional portfolio checkpoint 2
- Transition Point 2
- Submission of online student teaching application by appropriate deadline (fall student teaching - February 1 - spring student teaching - August 1)
- All departmental prerequisites met (see online catalog)
- Major GPA of 2.5 or higher (GPA of 2.75 or higher for HST majors)
- Combined (transfer and MSU) GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Professional Education courses 2.5 or higher GPA and no grade lower than a “C”
- At least 15 hours at Missouri State University, with a GPA of 2.5 or higher
- All methods courses with a “C” or better
- Academic advisor recommendation
- Department recommendation
- Current negative TB skin test report on file with the Educational Field Experiences office (valid for one year)
- Current professional liability insurance on file with the Educational Field Experiences office (valid through the academic year)
- Current Family Care Safety Registry background clearance on file with the Educational Field Experiences office (valid for the semester of student teaching)
- Current FBI background clearance on file with the Educational Field Experiences office (valid for one year)
