Orientation and Payments

Thank you for agreeing to mentor a Missouri State University teacher candidate’s professional development. We hope this will be a positive experience for you and your classroom students.

We value your guidance and partnership, and although an assigned University Supervisor will visit with you and the teacher candidate, we rely heavily on your input. Please use the designated Missouri State University Weekly Progress Form to provide weekly feedback to your teacher candidate. Detailed information for mentoring a teacher candidate is found in this handbook.

Orientation

Cooperating teachers will receive a welcome letter via email from the Professional Education Services office regarding payment and student information.

Payments

As a token of our appreciation, you will receive a stipend for your service. While some school districts require that your payment be paid to you through the district, most allow us to pay you directly. You should expect to receive paperwork from our office in your school mail no later than the twelfth week of the semester. If you have not received paperwork by that time, please contact PES@MissouriState.edu.

If you have ever worked in any capacity for Missouri State University (other than hosting a teacher candidate), please contact Shannon so that she can provide you with the appropriate paperwork. Please note that the university cannot send your payment until after the last day of student teaching. Per university policy, we cannot submit late payments, so please send your completed form back to us as soon as you receive it. Please note that the deadlines for payment are as follows:

  • Fall – December
  • Spring – May

Once processed, the payment will be sent to your home address.

Feedback

You will receive an email from our office containing a survey link for your evaluation of the university supervisor and of your experience in general. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey. Your input is very important, and we appreciate the completion of the survey in a timely manner.
