GENERAL FUNCTION

The Assistant Director for Marketing Management is responsible for coordinating with university partners and marketing and communications staff to plan, direct and manage the creation and delivery of multiple marketing strategies and projects of varied types and levels of technical complexity. The Assistant Director for Marketing Management assists in supervising the Strategic Communication office staff.

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A bachelor's degree is required. A master's degree is preferred. An equivalent combination of years of experience and education may be considered for substitution of educational requirements.

Experience: At least two years of experience is required in a position working in project management, marketing management, marketing strategy or marketing client management. Experience planning and managing complex marketing programs and reporting on the results is preferred. Experience working on print and digital projects is preferred. Supervisory experience is preferred.

Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Excellent proofreading and editing skills are required. Exceptional organizational and planning skills are required. Knowledge of word processing is required. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required. Web page maintenance skills are preferred. Experience utilizing a project management program is preferred. Experience working in a collaborative team and working directly with cross functional team (e.g., writers, designers, developers, social media manager) and external stakeholders is preferred.

Other: The scope of the job requires some evening and weekend hours, and occasional traveling.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Facilitates the achievement of specific goals and objectives of the Enrollment Management Division and other university partners by developing and coordinating marketing and communications plans that are designed to meet those specific goals and objectives.

2. Works with the Marketing and Communications team to plan, execute, measure, evaluate and report results of initiatives and campaigns.

3. Develops and executes comprehensive project management strategies managing the scope, timeline, and budget of each project.

4. Collaborates with the Marketing and Communications team on all projects and supports them through the creative process.

5. Acts as client advocate in the creative process and handles communication approvals.

6. Attends regular meetings with the project management team to prioritize work and discuss status updates.

7. Supports the overall quality of project deliverables by ensuring materials align with the University brand, marketing goals and institutional level priorities and follow standard quality control processes before sharing with clients.

8. Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.

9. Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses as directed by the Director of Strategic Communication.

10. Contributes to the overall success of Strategic Communication by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Strategic Communication and the Vice President for Marketing and Communications.

SUPERVISION

The Assistant Director for Marketing Management is supervised by the Director of Strategic Communication and assists in supervising an office staff of full-time employees, graduate assistants, and student employees.
