GENERAL FUNCTION
A Technical Instructor - West Plains is the lowest rank for technical faculty, requiring effectiveness in teaching; a commitment to advanced studies in the field or specialized training conducted for the industry including designing and teaching classes for college credit, seminars, or training sessions for employees of an outside organization; and a willingness to serve the department, division and/or campus.
The Technical Instructor - West Plains teaching responsibilities are assigned by the academic department head and may include serving as an academic advisor. Effective August 1, 2025, the Technical Instructor - West Plains rank is a tenure-track appointment only for faculty appointed by the two-year open admissions campus at West Plains.
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum acceptable qualifications for the position of Technical Instructor - West Plains are prescribed in the Faculty Handbook.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential duties and responsibilities of the Technical Instructor - West Plains are assigned by the academic department head.
SUPERVISION
The Technical Instructor - West Plains receives administrative supervision from the department head and may exercise supervision of graduate assistants, undergraduate majors, or student employees.
