GENERAL FUNCTION
The Advanced Technical Instructor - West Plains is an intermediate technical rank for technical faculty of one who has demonstrated achievement in the areas of teaching; specialized training conducted for the industry including designing and teaching classes for college credit, seminars, or training sessions for employees of an outside organization; research or peer-reviewed reporting of discoveries or innovations and creative activities appropriate to the discipline and of substantial service appropriate to the discipline.
The Advanced Technical Instructor - West Plains teaching responsibilities are assigned by the academic department head and may include serving as an academic advisor. Effective August 1, 2025, the rank is a tenure-track appointment only for faculty appointed by the two-year open admissions campus at West Plains.

The minimum acceptable qualifications for the position of Advanced Technical Instructor - West Plains are prescribed in the Faculty Handbook.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential duties and responsibilities of the Advanced Technical Instructor - West Plains are assigned by the academic department head.
SUPERVISION
The Advanced Technical Instructor - West Plains receives administrative supervision from the department head and may exercise supervision of graduate assistants, undergraduate majors, or student employees.
