GENERAL FUNCTION

The Master Technical Instructor - West Plains is the highest rank for technical faculty, the holder of which is a recognized leader who has a cumulative record of teaching effectiveness; of specialized training conducted for the industry including designing and teaching classes for college credit, seminars, or training sessions for employees of an outside organization; of peer-reviewed creative activities appropriate to the discipline and of substantial service appropriate to the discipline. 

The Master Technical Instructor - West Plains teaching responsibilities are assigned by the academic department head and may include serving as an academic advisor. Effective August 1, 2025, the Master Technical Instructor - West Plains rank is a tenure-track appointment only for faculty appointed by the two-year open admissions campus at West Plains.

The minimum acceptable qualifications for the position of Master Technical Instructor - West Plains are prescribed in the Faculty Handbook

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential duties and responsibilities of the Master Technical Instructor - West Plains are assigned by the academic department head. 

SUPERVISION

The Master Technical Instructor - West Plains receives administrative supervision from the department head and may exercise supervision of graduate assistants, undergraduate majors, or student employees.
