GENERAL FUNCTION

The Marketing Coordinator – Athletic & Entertainment Facilities develops, implements, and evaluates comprehensive marketing strategies that promote events, programs, premium experiences, venue rentals, and services for Great Southern Bank Arena and Juanita K. Hammons Hall. The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for increasing event awareness, driving ticket sales and attendance, supporting revenue generation, enhancing the guest experience, and strengthening the public image of both venues through digital marketing, advertising, public relations, social media, graphic design, and community engagement. The position collaborates closely with internal university departments, promoters, touring partners, artists, and community organizations to successfully market a diverse calendar of concerts, theatrical performances, athletic events, family shows, university events, and special events.

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Advertising, Graphic Design, Business Administration, or a related field is required.

Experience: At least one year of professional experience in marketing, communications, event marketing, sports marketing, entertainment marketing, or a related field is preferred. Experience with digital advertising, including search engine marketing (SEM), paid search (Google Ads), paid Meta advertising, and search engine optimization (SEO), social media management, graphic design, email marketing, website content management, or ticketed event marketing is preferred.

Skills: Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required. The ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining attention to detail is required. Strong organizational and project management skills are required with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Content creation experience utilizing social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn for marketing campaigns is required. Experience with Canva and Adobe Creative Suite, including including Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro, is preferred. Knowledge of website content management systems, email marketing platforms, photography, videography, video production and editing, digital advertising (Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads, Google Analytics, SEO, and SEM), analytics, and Microsoft Office is preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Develops, implements, and evaluates comprehensive marketing plans to promote concerts, theatrical performances, athletic events, university events, premium experiences, venue rentals, and special events hosted at Great Southern Bank Arena and Juanita K. Hammons Hall.

2. Creates, schedules, and manages content across social media platforms, websites, email marketing campaigns, digital signage, and other communication channels to maximize audience engagement, ticket sales, and event attendance.

3. Designs and coordinates marketing materials including digital graphics, advertisements, promotional videos, signage, presentations, printed materials, and other creative assets that support venue marketing initiatives while maintaining Missouri State University brand standards.

4. Coordinates marketing campaigns with promoters, artists, touring productions, athletics, university departments, ticketing partners, sponsors, and community organizations to ensure consistent messaging and successful event promotion.

5. Monitors ticket sales, digital analytics, social media performance, email metrics, advertising results, and campaign effectiveness. Provides recommendations to improve marketing strategies and maximize return on investment.

6. Assists with the development and execution of paid advertising campaigns including digital, social media, radio, television, print, outdoor advertising, and other promotional opportunities.

7. Supports marketing efforts for premium seating, hospitality experiences, sponsorship activations, and venue rental opportunities to increase earned revenue.

8. Coordinates photography, videography, media relations, promotional events, contests, giveaways, community outreach initiatives, and other fan engagement activities that enhance the visibility of both venues.

9. Assists with maintaining and updating venue websites and digital communication platforms to ensure timely and accurate event information.

10. Assists during events by supporting promotional activities, media needs, guest engagement initiatives, and other operational responsibilities as assigned.

11. Supervises student employees, interns, and temporary staff supporting marketing, content creation, and promotional efforts.

12. Remains current with industry trends in sports, entertainment, digital marketing, social media, ticketing, guest engagement, and venue management through professional development, conferences, training, and continuing education.

13. Helps ensure the success of Great Southern Bank Arena and Juanita K. Hammons Hall by performing other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION

The Marketing Specialist supervises part-time and student employees within the marketing office.
