GENERAL FUNCTION

The Assistant Director of Workforce Development – West Plains is responsible for coordinating the delivery and development of training solutions including summer programs, workshops, and dual credit programs; and is responsible for the development and management of the innovation hub/makerspace, programming, and services. The Assistant Director assists in planning, supervising, organizing, and coordinating of day-to-day operations of the workforce development office which serves as the university’s innovation hub/makerspace liaison with the community.

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor’s degree is required; a bachelor’s degree in education, technology, or related fields is preferred. An equivalent combination of years of experience and education may be considered for substitution of educational requirements.

Experience: At least one year of demonstrated ability to employ both the newest and established best practices in the rapidly developing field of workforce development, education, technology, marketing, and outreach is required.

Skills: Effective organization, management, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are required. Proficiency using technology, hardware/software is required. Knowledge of social media platforms is required. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required. Demonstrated knowledge of technology installation and troubleshooting is preferred.

Other: This is a grant funded position and continuation of this position is dependent on ongoing grant funding.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Responsible for the development and management of the innovation hub/makerspace, programming, and services.

2. Directs activities and personnel assigned to the Innovation Hub/Makerspace. Prioritizes, oversees, and evaluates the work of assigned student staff.

Conducts student training, courses, and workshops.

Manages workforce development course scheduling, faculty, and program delivery.

5.
Creates curriculum and teaches K-12 and adult students in technology programs.

6. Maintains instructional equipment including computers, audio visual materials, makerspace equipment and other educational equipment.

Establishes and maintains positive relationships with program partners including business, workforce, schools, and the community as assigned.

8.
Communicates and collaborates with other college staff for coordination and scheduling of training projects, including facility use, marketing materials, equipment, etc.

9.
Assists university personnel in representing training services to employees and interested individuals.

10.
Assists in the development of marketing and promotional brochures for on-demand and workforce training opportunities. Ensures delivery of products to relevant and prospective customers.

Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.

12.
Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses as directed by the supervisor.

13.
Contributes to the overall success of Office of Workforce Development by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director, of Workforce Development.

The Assistant Director of Workforce Development – West Plains is supervised by the Director of Workforce Development – West Plains.
