GENERAL FUNCTION

The Associate Dean, College of Agriculture provides assistance to the College Dean in the administration of the college which may include, but is not limited to, department head and faculty recruitment and development, department head and faculty evaluation, program development, program review, student advisement, college budgeting and budget control, and indirect supervision of the teaching, research, and service activities of the college.

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum acceptable qualifications for the position of Associate Dean are prescribed by the College Dean in concert with guidance from the Provost. The Associate Dean must be a ranked faculty member and will teach a minimum of three credit hours per semester. A terminal degree is required, and the required degree will be at the Dean’s discretion. A record of inclusive conduct and evidence of multicultural skills in the workplace are required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Assist the College Dean with recruitment and development of department heads and faculty.

2. Assist the College Dean with the evaluation of faculty and staff.

3. Assist the College Dean and Department Heads with development of new programs and revision of existing programs.

4. Assist the College Dean and Department Heads with program review.

5. Assist the College Dean with ongoing budgeting, review, and control.

6. Support the overall success of the Darr College of Agriculture by performing other duties as assigned by the College Dean.

SUPERVISION

The Associate Dean, College of Agriculture is supervised by the College Dean and exercises supervision of the faculty and staff of the college as prescribed by the College Dean.
