Program Requirements
If you are pursuing a degree in public relations, you must meet the below requirements to be eligible for graduation. Also, you must complete the general education program, fulfill the general baccalaureate degree requirements and complete at least 120 hours of coursework.
Public Relations (Non-Comprehensive)
Major requirements (36 hours):
- Departmental requirements (6 hours): COM 219(3), 328(3).
- Public relations requirements (18 hours): COM 309(3), 379(3), 439(3), 459(3), 469(3), 509(3).
- Supporting major electives (12 hours) from: COM 205(3), 322(3), 336(3), 450(3), 466(3), 479(3), 495(3); JRN 270(3), 370(3), 374(3), 375(3), 381(3), 384(3); MED 290(3); 345(3) or 365(3); 355(3), 381(3), 390(3); DES 300(3); ENG 321(3), 373(3); AGC 293(3), 303(3), 333(3), 373(3).
- Public Affairs Capstone Experience will be fulfilled by completion of COM 509(3).
- Minor required (or second major). Note: courses counted toward the minor cannot be counted toward this major.

Accelerated graduate program in Communication
Eligible Missouri State undergraduate students may apply for admission to the Communication program and begin taking graduate course work as they complete the work for a bachelor’s degree. A maximum of 12 hours of graduate credit may be counted toward both the undergraduate and graduate degree (Mixed Credit). Refer to the Graduate Catalog for specific admission requirements.

Accelerated graduate program in Professional Studies
Eligible Missouri State undergraduate students may apply for admission to the Master of Professional Studies program and begin taking graduate course work as they complete the work for a bachelor’s degree. A maximum of 12 hours of graduate credit may be counted toward both the undergraduate and graduate degree (Mixed Credit). Refer to the Graduate Catalog for specific admission requirements.
