Fall 2026 Jazz Studies Ensemble Audition Information
GENERAL INFORMATION
Auditions will be held for all students who wish to perform in a jazz ensemble during the fall semester. Below is information regarding audition times and audition material. If you have questions, please email Dr. Jason Hausback:
It's going to be a really fun year for the jazz studies groups, including several guest artists and the potential for travel!
Ensemble Rehearsal Times
- Jazz Studies Ensemble II: TR 12:30-1:45 p.m. in WEHR-0123
- Jazz Studies Ensemble I: MW 12:20-1:10 p.m.; TR 12:30-1:45 p.m. in WEHR-0124
- Jazz Symposium IV: MW 2:30-3:20 p.m. in WEHR-0124
- Jazz Symposium III: MW 11:15 a.m. -12:05 p.m. in WEHR-0124
- Jazz Symposium II: MW 1:25-2:15 p.m. in WEHR-0124
- Jazz Symposium I: TR 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m. in WEHR-0124
SCHEDULE AN AUDITION
All students should sign up for an audition time. Online sign-up will be available from Aug. 1-10. Beginning Aug. 11, you will need to stop by the Band Office in Wehr Band Hall to sign up for a time. On the dates of the auditions, the remaining times will be available if you did not sign up in advance. If you have a conflict (Pride rehearsal conflicts have already been approved), please email Dr. Hausback. We look forward to hearing your audition.
Please DO NOT wait for the last minute to sign up. There are also Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony auditions during these times, so please plan accordingly.
Results will be posted by the end of the day on Monday, Aug. 17.
AUDITION TIMES
All auditions will be held in Wehr Band Hall #124 at the following times.
- Wednesday, 8/12 12:00-3:00 p.m.
- Thursday, 8/13 2:30-5:30 p.m.
*Make-up auditions (if needed and with prior approval from Dr. Hausback) will be Monday, 8/17 12:15-1:45 p.m.

In addition to the following excerpts, there will also be a little bit of sight-reading, and for those that would like to, some improvisation.
