The Academic Advising and Transfer Center fosters collaborative advising relationships with students in order to assist in their success at Missouri State and beyond. Additionally, the Academic Advising and Transfer Center supports the development of excellence in advising across campus.
Goal 1: Advisors in the Academic Advising and Transfer Center will guide students as they explore majors and academic goals.
1A: Advisors will use a personalized and developmental advising approach
1B: Students will utilize academic and co-curricular tools to enhance their education
1C: Advisors will empower students to have an ownership over their education, resulting in thoughtful and meaningful choices of majors and coursework
Goal 2: The Academic Advising and Transfer Center will advise and promote Interdisciplinary Programs.

3A: The Academic Advising and Transfer Center will Coordinate Jump START, a summer bridge program for students who do not automatically meet admission requirements
3B: The Academic Advising and Transfer Center will advise Individual Review students
3C: The Academic Advising and Transfer Center will coordinate the pre-college program for high school students taking classes on campus
Goal 4: Advisors of the Academic Advising and Transfer Center will engage in and facilitate professional development to ensure students are served by excellent advisors.

Academic advisors at Missouri State University provide academic and professional guidance as students develop meaningful educational plans in pursuit of their life goals. Advisors provide students with information about coursework, University policies and procedures, the Public Affairs mission, and career options and opportunities. They require student participation in the decision-making process, help students become lifelong learners, and encourage self-reliant problem solving through exploration of students’ own interests and values. Advisors support students as they seek the best possible education at Missouri State University.
