DAY 1A and 1B: HOUSE TOURS

THURSDAY, AUGUST 24th & FRIDAY, AUGUST 25th

On Thursday at 2:30 PM you will be able to access your schedule via the Companion App. This will show you the houses that you will attend. You will meet at the Plaster Student Union at 3:30 to leave for the first event of 30 minutes before every event start time. Events will begin at 4:00 PM on Thursday, and 4:00 PM on Friday.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Arrive at the Bear Statue outside of the Plaster Student Union at 3:30 PM. Pi Chis will then take PNMs to their first event location. Each chapter will take you on a house tour so that PNMs have the opportunity to see the living facilities of each chapter. Chapters will also share with PNMs their Financial Transparency forms to begin conversations of the dues structure their chapter adheres to. Each round is about 25 minutes so conversation can more quick. After you have been to all 8 Nationally Affiliated Chapters, you will prioritize the chapters with your Panhellenic Counselor! When you submit your priorities, you will be asked to login to the Companion App put down your top five chapters (in no particular order) and your bottom three chapters in rank order.

DAY 2: SISTERHOOD and PHILANTHROPY DAY

SATURDAY, AUGUST 26th

On Saturday at 8:00 AM you will be able to access your schedule via the Companion App. Events will begin at 9:00 AM.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Day 2 is Philanthropy and Sisterhood Day. During this round, you will have the opportunity to visit up to five chapters and learn more about their sisterhood and philanthropic efforts, while gaining a deeper understanding of their values. You will also get to see a video that shows how the chapters live out their values and what they do to support their philanthropies, as well as some of the fun things they do throughout the year! At the end of Day 2, you prioritize the chapters you visited that day in the Companion App. When you submit your priorities, you will be asked to submit your top two chapters (in no particular order) and list your remaining chapters in rank order.

WHAT YOU'LL TALK ABOUT: This is the time to ask any questions you may have about each chapters' philanthropy, sisterhood, and anything else you may be wondering before making your decision for Preference Day. Keep asking those values-based questions! Picture yourself as a sister of the organizations you are visiting and try to decide where your best fit might be.

WHAT YOU'LL WEAR: On Day 2, you will be provided with another t-shirt! Comfort is key as with Day 1 A&B. You may wear anything else that makes you feel most like you!

DAY 3: IN-PERSON PREFERENCE DAY

SUNDAY, AUGUST 27th

On Sunday at 9:00 AM you will be able to access your schedule via the Companion App. Events will begin at 10:00 AM.

WHAT TO EXPECT: The final day of Recruitment is Preference Day. During this round, you will have the opportunity to visit up to two chapters before making your final selection. This is an important day not only for you, but for the chapters also, as you will experience a ceremony that reflects their ritual.  At the end of Day 3, you will submit your priorities by filling out the Membership Recruitment Acceptance Binding Agreement. This document asks you to list all of the chapters you attended in order to help us complete the mutual selection process. Your Panhellenic Counselor will not be able to go through it with you, but there will be several University Faculty and Staff members available to help you talk through your options. Once you've completed this document, you cannot talk to any sorority member until Bid Day the following day.

WHAT YOU'LL TALK ABOUT: This will be a special day, therefore your conversations will likely be more deep and meaningful. Still feel free to ask questions and get to know the women better, while picturing yourself being a part of their sorority.

WHAT YOU'LL WEAR: This is the dressiest round of Recruitment. A dress is most common but you may also wear dress pants or a skirt with a blouse. Again, wear something that you feel most comfortable in and reflects you!  When deciding on what to wear, think about something that would be appropriate for a wedding or church. Remember that you will be walking across campus, so wear shoes that you will be able to walk in comfortably. Heels are great but do not feel like you must risk aching feet, sandals or flats are perfectly fine too!

BID DAY

MONDAY, AUGUST 28th

Arrive at the North Mall by 4:30 PM. Your Panhellenic Counselor will meet you there and you will sit with your group. Events start at 5:00 PM.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Bid Day is the day you will receive an invitation to join a sorority! When you arrive at the North Mall, your Panhellenic Counselor will give you your bid card in an envelope and you will sit on it until it is time to open them. When you arrive, there will be a current member waiting for you that will show you around, introduce you to other active members, and answer any questions you might have about joining the chapter. You will also complete paperwork that will be given to Missouri State University and the inter/national organization to secure your membership.

WHAT YOU’LL TALK ABOUT: Bid Day is all about meeting your new sisters! You’ll have the chance to meet many new and active members as you learn more about the chapter. Feel free to keep asking questions about new member requirements and what it is like to be a member.

WHAT YOU’LL WEAR: On this day you should wear a comfy shirt and you will receive a Bid Day shirt once you arrive at your chapter house. You should also plan to wear comfortable bottoms, such as jeans, shorts, or a skort.
