The 120 world-class cyclists will enter Springfield on Division Street. The course will pass in front of Cox North and then turn south onto Jefferson. The public is invited to a Cox North Block Party which begins at 3 p.m., featuring games, giveaways and bleacher seating for at least 400 people.
Spectators closer to the finish line near Kimbrough Avenue and East Trafficway are invited to the Health and Wellness Expo from noon to 5 p.m. in the parking lot of the Mediacom Ice Park. The expo is free and features health screenings, educational exhibits, giveaways and a free concert by the band Lost Highway.
On September 8, the evening before the race, families can travel the final circuit of Stage 2 during the Tour of Springfield community bike ride. Registration and festivities begin at 5:30 at Jordan Valley Park. The Springfield Police Department will give away free youth helmets. Area bicycle clubs and shops will offer free bike safety inspections. The Tour of Springfield bike ride begins at 6:30. Two bikes will be given away in a drawing after ride.
