Welcome to Missouri State Outdoor Adventures (OA).  As a part of Campus Recreation, OA focuses on providing opportunities for Missouri State students, faculty, and staff to have fun in the outdoors, learn new skills, and make new friends .  Because the woods is often our classroom and playground, each experience with us is uniquely hands-on.  Participants of our trips and workshops leave with  knowledge of the focal skills, new friends, and a unique experience.

Mission Statement:

Outdoor Adventures functions as a way for Missouri State University students, faculty, and staff to get into the outdoors and recreate.  We accomplish this by: providing various outdoor trips designed for different skill levels, providing workshops, providing an outdoor equipment rental service, and sharing our own knowledge of the outdoors.  In addition, we exist as a place for students to develop their own outdoor leadership skills.

Priorities:

Safety is the highest priority in all of Outdoor Adventures' programming.  In addition, Outdoor Adventures strives to provide a fun recreational atmosphere while preserving a philosophy of minimal enviornmental impact (Leave No Trace).  Outdoor Adventures hopes that through its various programs, participants will not only have fun, but will learn more about themselves and build confidence.  All Outdoor Adventures programming is conducted under the "Challenge by Choice" philosophy.  This allows participants to try a new experience in an enviornment where the option to stop and try again later is always present and respected.
