Human Resources Employee Development and Performance provides organizational development consulting services to individual University Units for the development and coordination of specialized programs to address specific needs or concerns. In addition, they also provide individual seminars tailored to the University system that focuses on leadership, supervision, teamwork, communication, and customer service. These workshops are available for individual attendance, certificate programs, or in support of departmental specific training.

Supervisor and Leadership Development
Conversations with HR
Short professional development sessions with MSU’s HR professionals that provide supervisors with the critical knowledge and techniques needed to successfully hire, coach, train and lead employees. The last 30 minutes of each session will be an open forum for participants to ask general questions and seek advice from HR on topics of their interest. Please register online through My Learning Connection. Sessions are held in the Human Resources Training Room, Carrington 110 from 9:00am to 10:30am on the following dates:

MSU HR Supervisor Certificate Program: (New Cohort in Spring 2017)
The MSU HR Supervision Series is an instructor led program designed to provide both new and current supervisors with the information, job skills, and strategy to be an effective supervisor at Missouri State University. Presenters are MSU Professionals from Human Resources, General Counsel, and the Office for Institutional Equity and Compliance. The program is divided into three (3) areas: The Leader Mentor Role; Hiring and Retaining Employees; and Addressing Employee Performance/Workplace Issues.
Participants will be asked to complete both the Myers-Briggs and Thomas-Kilmann online instruments as prerequisites for the program. Supervisors will be able to gain insight to their own leadership and conflict styles.

Leadership MSU Program
A leadership program designed for mid-level and higher managers at Missouri State University. The program is 10 sessions in length and structured around The Leadership Challenge by Kouzes and Posner. Participants will be asked to complete an online Leadership Practice Inventory (LPI) and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI) as part of the prerequisites for this program. Participants must be able to commit the time to attend all sessions.
Individual Professional and Personal Development Programs
HR Employee Development and Performance offers individual programs for employees on a semester basis to support individual professional and personal development.
Emotional Intelligence (EDP)
Emotions impact your everyday work performance and behavior. Learn how to use your emotional intelligence to guide thinking and behavior for improved working relationships, enhanced self-awareness, and achieving desired outcomes. Participants will be asked to complete an online self-assessment instrument as part of the course requirements.
Project Management (EDP)
This class is based on "The One-Page Project Manager" book by Clark A. Campbell. Learn how to utilize this strategy and technique to successfully manage workplace projects.
CUPA-HR Bootcamp (CUPA-HR/EDP)
A blended course that includes an e-learning course and instructor led group discussions on Human Resource topics for supervisors and HR professionals. Management Development Institute (MDI) Public Programming
These programs are either offered by HR Employee Development and Performance (EDP) or in partnership with the Management Development Institute (MDI). Employees can utilize their Noncredit Fee Waiver Benefit for payment of class. Please search under "MDI" to locate class in My Learning Connection.
