September 10, 2007 4:00-4:45 p.m.
CARR 104

Members Attending: Dale Moore (Chair), Teresa Steele, Sara Clark, Dr. Wes Scroggins, Dr. Michelle Visio

Absent: Jana Estergard

Dale Moore began the meeting by stating that we need to ask President Nietzel for a replacement for LaDonna Hansen, who no longer works at the university.

Michelle Vision discussed the rough draft of the report that she had sent to the members electronically. She also handed out a summary of the top service/benefit areas by job category. She noted that she was pleased with the response rate, except for the Service job category.

The next step, the group decided, was to form focus groups, which need to be concluded by the end of October. Michelle Visio noted that ideally each focus group should have 6-8 members, and be composed of individuals from the same or similar job groups. Each group would then discuss the top 25% of the items that were indicated as important or very important in the survey by that job group. Michelle Visio volunteered her practicum class to lead the focus groups, as it will give them valuable experience.

Since there was such a low response rate from the Service group, it was suggested that the reason was the inability to access a computer. Sarah Clark suggested and the group decided that sending a hard copy to each of the employees in the group that had not previously taken the survey, along with a return envelope, might encourage a response. Teresa Steele agreed to contact HR to get a list of the Service employees, and then send the survey, cover letter, and return envelope to them. The due date for the surveys to be back to Michelle Visio will be approximately one week (9/27/07). It was thought that there should not be a problem getting answers back from the focus group prior to the October-November time frame set up originally.

Teresa Steele reported that all gifts have been awarded to randomly drawn respondents of the survey, and most were very happy to have received the prize.

It was agreed by the group to meet in two weeks to check the status of the surveys that were sent out to the Service group, and to discuss focus groups further.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:45 PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Teresa Steele
