Why did you choose to attend Missouri State-West Plains? 

I chose to attend Missouri State-West Plains because it offered an affordable ASN program that had everything I was looking for.

How would you describe your experience here? 

I have learned so much during my time here! There have been challenges along the way, but it has been worth it. Overall, I feel my experience here has helped me become a more disciplined and resilient person.

What has been your favorite thing about Missouri State-West Plains?

The nursing faculty has been my favorite thing about Missouri State-West Plains. The nursing program has outstanding educators who have a true passion for teaching. They are understanding and accommodate the students’ needs. I am very grateful to have had such kind and encouraging instructors. They go above and beyond to make nursing school a positive learning experience!

What has been your favorite course? And why? 

My favorite course was Adult Medical-Surgical Nursing II. I enjoyed this course because it went more in depth about disease processes and treatments. It covered lots of cardiovascular and neurological conditions which are my favorite topics to learn about. I also enjoyed the critical care clinical rotations in the intensive care unit that were a part of this course. During my time there, I was able to see many interesting medical interventions and procedures performed.

How have faculty and staff helped you during your time at Missouri State-West Plains?

The nursing faculty and staff have been a tremendous help throughout my time here. They offer continuous academic support and encourage students to reach out with any questions or concerns. They make it known that they want students to succeed.

How did you choose your major? 

I have always been interested in working in healthcare. I decided to pursue nursing because there is a wide variety of specialties you can work in throughout your career. It is also very rewarding knowing you can help make a difference in patients’ lives.

What have you learned from the nursing department that will help you succeed in your education, career or life?

The nursing department has taught me many valuable skills and lessons I will continue to use throughout my career. Each instructor has provided me with advice and stories from their own backgrounds in nursing that I will reflect on throughout my life and time as a nurse.

What are your plans after graduation? 

After graduation, I plan to work at St. Joseph Hospital on the cardiac telemetry unit. I also plan to further my education by receiving a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
