FAFSA updates and resources

The FAFSA delay is a nationwide challenge. Missouri State is working to provide your financial aid information as soon as possible.

What's going on with the FAFSA delay?

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a vital form for college students who want to receive financial aid. It's the gateway to scholarships, loans and grants. This year, the federal government revamped the FAFSA form and process. All the changes have created a nationwide bottleneck – colleges and future students across the country are in this same situation.

When to expect your financial aid information

MSU has started receiving 2024-2025 FAFSA data and our team is working as quickly as possible to put together aid packages. We will begin contacting students with additional information soon, so please monitor your MSU email account for correspondence from our team.

Extended deadline

Apply for FAFSA by May 1, 2024

Don't wait: Early submission gives you a big edge! Use federal school code 002503 when submitting.

By now, we can usually tell prospective students how much financial aid they’ll receive.

This year, we have to wait longer.

We know it’s hard to decide where to attend college when you don’t know how much it’ll cost.

Rest assured: Missouri State is doing everything we can to provide your financial aid information. The FAFSA delay won't affect how much aid you may receive.

In the meantime, we've moved two key deadlines to May 1:

Secure your place at MSU risk-free

If you think you want to attend Missouri State (depending on your financial aid package), you can confirm your plan to attend with no risk.

  • Accept your admission offer and pay your enrollment deposit. This deposit acts as your official acceptance of MSU’s offer of admission, confirms your intent to enroll and reserves your spot at Student Orientation, Advisement and Registration. You can get a full refund until June 1.
  • Apply for housing. The earlier you apply, the more likely it is that you’ll get the housing assignment you prefer. You can get a full refund until June 1.

Are you a current Bear?

Your financial aid timeline hasn't changed.

Good news: As a continuing student at Missouri State, your financial aid process is not currently delayed.

Returning students don’t receive aid information for the next school year until after spring semester grades are due. This means your 2024-25 financial aid information should be available sometime after May 14.

While you wait, make sure you've taken these steps:
