Position Title: Information Desk Manager
Department: Plaster Student Union Administration
Supervision: This position reports to the Assistant Director of Event and Meeting Services.
Position Summary:
The Plaster Student Union Information Desk Manager is responsible for scheduling and guiding the Information Desk Attendants in running the daily operations at the desk. It is important that the Information Desk Manager is familiar with the building, its policies, programs, and services.
General Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Participate in recruitment and selection process for Information Desk attendant hires.
- Train staff in the proper operations of the Information Desk to ensure everyone is able to understand and execute in their role.
- Serve as the subject matter expert to Information Desk staff.
- Supervise Information Desk staff to achieve expected performance and outcomes.
- Schedule staff to work all shifts.
- Attend OMT staff meetings and training sessions.
- Organize and maintain the Information Desk.
- Provide friendly service while answering questions on the phone and in person.
- Handle emergency situations professionally.
- Manage lost and found.
- Communicate important information via radio and public address system.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Requisite Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
- The Information Desk Manager is a student employee and must meet all University requirements to work on campus.
- Minimum GPA: 2.5
- Minimum enrolled credit hours for U.S. & International students.
- Familiar with the Missouri State campus and Plaster Student Union.
- Ability to follow directions and manage time efficiently.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Flexible hours for availability (including evenings & weekends).
- Positive customer-oriented attitude and professional image.
- Openness to working in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work with people from different backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Supervisory experience.
Schedule:
- Average of 15-20 hours/week.
- Available to work nights and weekends.

Position Overview:
Run the daily operations of the PSU Information Desk, providing excellent service to our customers and a friendly greeting to all who enter.
General Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Provide friendly service while answering questions on the phone and in person.
- Handle emergency situations professionally.
- Accurately track lost item reports.
- Actively seek to match found items with their owners.
- Fill out required reports accurately.
- Communicate important information via radio and public address system.
- Sort and distribute mail for the building.
- Maintain clean and organized work area.
Qualifications (Requisite Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
- Information Desk Attendants are student employees and must meet all University requirements to work on campus.
- Minimum GPA: 2.0
- Minimum enrolled credit hours for U.S. & International students.
- Familiar with the Missouri State campus and Plaster Student Union.
- Have experience in front line customer service.
- Detail oriented.
- Friendly and interested in all aspects of working in a customer-centered environment.
- Able to manage several tasks simultaneously.
Schedule:
- Average of 10-15 hours/week.
- Must be available to work nights and weekends.
