Schedule Highlights

Friday, April 26-Saturday, May 4, 2024

President Smart’s agenda from April 26-May 4, 2024, includes speaking engagements, campus activities, community board meetings and events recognizing various faculty and staff. Additionally, there are special events planned to honor his tenure as president. He will also travel to Lebanon and West Plains.

Friday, April 26

President Smart is scheduled to attend the 28th Annual MCHHS Student Research Symposium and retirement party for Margaret Weaver, as well as speak at the Inclusive Excellence Gala.

Saturday, April 27

President Smart will visit the Frank Einhellig Graduate Interdisciplinary Forum poster presentations and deliver a speech at the awards ceremony. He will attend the Audiology White Coat Ceremony, in which his graduate assistant is participating.

Sunday, April 28

President Smart will introduce the President’s Concert.

Monday, April 29

President Smart will attend the Downtown Council of Champions Executive Committee meeting. He will then attend the Springfield Innovation, Inc. board meeting. In the evening, he will speak at the Student Government Association End of the Year Banquet before stopping by a retirement reception for Dr. John Prescott, professor of music.

Tuesday, April 30

President Smart is scheduled to address the College of Natural and Applied Sciences Faculty and Staff Awards Celebration before joining the Faculty and Staff Retiree Dinner.

Wednesday, May 1

President Smart is scheduled to stop by the May Day festivities.  He will then attend a Retirement Reception held in his honor.

Thursday, May 2

President Smart will start his day by attending the Springfield Prayer Breakfast. He will then travel to Lebanon, where he is the featured speaker at the Lebanon Rotary Academic Luncheon. His next stop will be West Plains, where he will take part in a Student Symposium, followed by a social hour honoring him and Gail Smart, and concluding with the West Plains Alumni and Friends Picnic.

Friday, May 3

President Smart's schedule includes kicking off University Staff Ambassadors Day. He will then join the group for lunch. In the afternoon, he will attend the Faculty Staff Alumni and Donors Appreciation Event. In the evening, he will attend the Judy Awards.
