Program Review Guidelines
Op3.27 Program Review Guidelines
All academic programs at Missouri State University that are not subject to external accreditation shall undergo a comprehensive program review on a five-year cycle. This systematic review process is designed to support continuous improvement, strategic planning, and institutional effectiveness.
The program review will assess elements such as student learning outcomes, curriculum coherence, enrollment and graduation trends, faculty credentials, and resource allocation. The results of these reviews are used to inform academic planning, resource distribution, and alignment with the university’s mission and strategic priorities.
The Office of Assessment and Accreditation is responsible for overseeing and facilitating the program review process. This includes establishing the timeline, providing guidance and templates, and supporting departments throughout the review. Detailed procedures, required documentation, submission deadlines, and evaluation criteria will be published and maintained on the Office of Assessment and Accreditation’s official website.
Participation in the program review process is a collaborative effort that includes department faculty, college leadership, and relevant administrative offices. All academic units are expected to fully engage in this process to ensure the ongoing quality and relevance of their programs.
