Submitting an electronic copy

If you are including a brochure or flyer in SOAR packets, please sent an Adobe PDF version on the document to NewBears@MissouriState.edu. We post these electronic copies on our website for participants who may have lost this information after attending SOAR.

Designing materials

Here is some advice to consider with designing information materials for SOAR packets:

  • Remember to appeal to your audience. Incoming students and family members have vastly different interests, questions, and concerns. Consider these differences when designing information for each group.
  • Make your piece simple but impactful. SOAR participants receive a LOT of information during the program; ensure your message is heard by being clear and concise.
  • Be creative with your marketing. SOAR participants will likely receive a lot of paper materials. A promotional pen or give-away may cost a bit more, but it will make a much bigger impact. An item students or families will use often will also create more value for your marketing dollar. A planner, t-shirt, or lanyard will likely be kept for some time.

Producing materials

If you submitted a request to include brochures or flyers, we recommend using Printing Services or Copy This for production of these materials.

Advertisement specifications

Advertisements in the SOAR Handbook should be designed to meet the following criteria:

  • Full-page ads (8.5"x 11") should allow a 1/8” bleed (meaning the overall size of the document should be 8.75” x 11.25”). Half-page ads (8.5” x 5.5”) should not include a bleed.
  • Convert all text to paths.
  • High-resolution, press-quality PDFs are preferred. If JPGs are provided, please ensure that they are at least 300 dpi or higher.
