Q: My proposal is still in the approval process, but I need to make a small change to it. Am I able to make edits while it is in the approval process?
A: Per the Faculty Senate Bylaws, once proposals are submitted for approval, there can be no additional changes to it, no matter how small. Since the proposal goes through so many steps prior to approval, it is crucial for every individual and committee that views the proposal to see the exact same information. Any additional changes will need their own proposals. Please be sure to proofread all proposals before they are submitted.
Q: Do I still need to submit a proposal just to change a title or a description?
A: Yes, any changes to the catalog must be approved through a curricular proposal.
Q: How do I know if a curricular proposal needs Council on General Education and Intercollegiate Programs (CGEIP) approval?
A: According to Article IV, Section 2 of the Faculty Senate Bylaws, CGEIP must review "all curricular proposals affecting the General Education Program, undergraduate courses and programs offered collaboratively by academic departments in two or more colleges, undergraduate degrees offered by two or more colleges, and the general requirements for undergraduate certificates. This Council shall also act on applications for admission to the Bachelor of General Studies degree program."
Q: How do I know if a curricular proposal needs Educator Preparation Provider Council (EPPC) approval?
A: According to Article III, Section 2 of the Faculty Senate Bylaws, EPPC must "review courses and programs and to define those policies and procedures that ensure educator preparation programs at Missouri State University (MSU) meet state and national guidelines for preparing qualified school personnel...The EPPC was established to encompass all educator preparation certification programs across the various colleges". Essentially, if a course will be part of any teaching or professional education certification or program, it must go to the EPPC for approval.
