Residence Hall Move-In

Welcome back to campus! Move-in begins at all Missouri State University residence halls. Prepare for a successful moving day by reviewing our move-in process.

Bear Crew volunteers will be on hand to help unload your belongings.

3 and 4 p.m.

Parent and Family Welcome and Informational

Plaster Student Union Theater

While students are busy unpacking their room, parents and family members are invited to the Plaster Student Union Theater for a special campus welcome from the Missouri State Family Association. The Family Association will be announcing the Missouri State Welcome Discounts for dinner and entertainment specials offered downtown.

5-8 p.m.

Dinner on campus or at select downtown restaurants

Enjoy dinner as a family in one of the Missouri State dining centers or at a downtown restaurant offering the Missouri State Welcome Discount.

Allison Recreation Fields 

This high energy, interactive event is the perfect way to make new friends at Missouri State! Playfair is a team-building experience that has a long-lasting effect on the students of Missouri State. Event sponsored by the Residence Hall Association and the Office of Student Engagement.

Outdoor Games

North Mall 

Enjoy inflatable games and refreshments while waiting for the outdoor movie to begin.  Event sponsored by Christian Campus House.

Free Outdoor Movie: "The Amazing Spiderman 2"

North Mall

Relax on the North Mall and watch "The Amazing Spiderman 2" under the stars on a 15 foot by 20 foot inflatable movie screen. Event sponsored by Student Activities Council.

Explore the newest building on campus and learn about all of the programs and services the Foster Recreation Center provides.

Parent/Student Aloha Brunch and Goodbyes

Campus Dining Centers

In Hawaii, the term "aloha" is used as both a warm welcome and a fond farewell. This free (for those students with a meal plan and for the parents of those students with a meal plan) Hawaiian-themed brunch will provide a warm welcome to our new students and a fond farewell to the families of our students.

University faculty and staff will be at each dining center greeting students and families and answering any remaining questions. 

2-6 p.m.

Oops I forgot …

Did you forget something at home? Take care of any last minute shopping needs or explore some of Springfield by hopping on one of our free shuttles, offering rides from campus to local retailers. Shuttles will pick up at Bear Park North. Event sponsored by the Office of Student Engagement and International Programs.

6:30-8:30 p.m.


Carrington Auditorium

Designed just for transfer students, this orientation focuses on the services and resources provided to transfer students. At the end of the session, students will walk over to the Plaster Student Union for Bear Bash.

Fan Fest/ Bear Bash

Plaster Student Union

Kick off your first Saturday night on campus by attending the Bear Bash Fan Fest at 7:30 p.m. before the doors open to Bear Bash at 9 p.m.

More than 5,000 students attend Bear Bash every year, making it one of the largest student events of the year. Enjoy free food, games, Texas Hold 'Em, bowling and much more!!! The first 1,000 students get a free Missouri State t-shirt.

JQH Arena

New Student Convocation officially marks the start of the 2014-15 academic year. Learn more about MSU's public affairs mission and this year's theme of "The Ethical Citizen."

New Student Festival

Plaster Student Union 

Find your place at Missouri State by getting involved in a student organization. More than 200 student organizations and departments will host booths in the PSU to share information about their events and programs. Event sponsored by the Office of Student Engagement.

4-6 p.m.

Commuter Meet and Greet

Plaster Student Union, Room 400

Make connections with fellow commuter students over free pizza, and get your last minute questions answered by faculty and staff.

5:30-7:30 p.m.


Strong Hall Amphitheater

This BBQ dinner is the perfect opportunity for students wanting to learn more about multicultural experiences at Missouri State.

Event hosted by Multicultural Student Services, the Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion, the Office of Student Engagement and Residence Hall Association.
