Packing List

Transform your room into your home away from home by following our recommended packing list. Every student may have different needs, but this gives you a good start of things to consider. Make sure to consult your roommate to avoid purchasing doubles of items. Items we consider essential are starred, and there are some items on the list below that students can check out from their residence hall front desk if needed.

Bed and Bath

  • Pillow, comforter, blankets and extra-long twin sheets (all beds are 80 inches long)
  • Mattress pad/mattress topper (over 2 inches must be CA fire approved)
  • Pillow(s) and pillow cases*

  • TV (if your TV doesn’t have a built in digital converter, an external converter is needed)

  • Plastic food storage containers with sealing lids

School supplies

What not to bring

  • Alcoholic beverages or containers
  • Candles, candle warmers (e.g., Scentsy), wax melting elements, incense, etc.
  • All cooking appliances are prohibited except traditional blenders, auto-shutoff coffee pots, auto-shutoff electric kettles, toasters (not toaster ovens), and air-popped popcorn makers (intended for in-home use)
  • Bed risers of any kind
  • Halogen lamps or any lamp with a plastic shade
  • Heating units/heaters
  • Drug paraphernalia
  • Refrigerators
  • Tobacco Products (Missouri State is tobacco-free)
  • Waterbeds or personal mattress
  • Weapons (or any item that can be construed as a weapon; knives must be shorter than 2 inches)
  • Ozone machines
  • Pets (only fish in less than 20 gallon tanks allowed)
