Alternative Breaks

Alternative Breaks are a way for a student to spend their breaks (spring, summer, fall) volunteering, immersed in the community.  These experiences allow students to learn more about a community, immerse themselves in the culture and social issues that a community faces, and grow as a volunteer into an Active Citizen.

Alternative Spring Break

Interested in having a fun and meaningful Spring Break?  The Office of Student Engagement is sponsoring two Alternative Spring Break Trips that will provide 10-15 students per trip to travel to a major US city, learn about a specific social issue, and provide meaningful service to the community.  The trip will cost students $150, and the cost is to cover housing, food, and travel expenses.  The cost can be defrayed through additional fundraising and scholarships.

Why participate?

  • Being immersed in the diverse environments enables you to experience and discuss social issues in a significant way.
