  • RStats faculty associates share their expertise in research design, statistical analysis, manuscript preparation, grant submission, and other areas. Our goal is to facilitate and advance the scholarly work of Missouri State University’s researchers. 
  • RStats provides professional development opportunities for faculty, students, and staff through workshops on research planning, design, and statistical analysis topics. 
  • RStats associates also offer individual consultations with researchers.   

*Individual consultations with RStats Associates are available to students, faculty, and staff in the College of Health and Human Services and the College of Education -- To request a consultation please call us at 836-4631 or send us an email at rstats@missouristate.edu. We also have walk-in office hours Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday: 12 p.m - 5 p.m., or by appointment.

 

How to Tame Your Dataset Workshop

You are invited to attend a workshop for researchers called “How to Tame Your Dataset”. This workshop is intended for anyone doing research or getting ready to do data collection using Excel or SPSS.

 

  • Learn hints and tricks for creating and managing a dataset for statistical analysis.
  • Get that dataset under control and ready to analyze.
  • Avoid pitfalls that can doom your data.
  • Use clever formulas in Excel to save hours of time.
  • Learn keyboard shortcuts that simplify data entry.
  • Introduction to using ROC curves in Excel
  • Covers both Excel and SPSS.

Featured Presenter Lisa Cota is a statistical analyst at the Missouri State RStats Institute known for her ability to make a snarling Excel dataset purr like a kitten. "How to Tame Your Dataset" offers her best hints and tips. The workshop will also feature Todd Daniel, Director of the RStats Institute
