The Department of Religious Studies

The Religious Studies Faculty on the stairs in Strong Hall

"The mission of the Department of Religious Studies is to educate persons and to advance knowledge about religion(s)."

The study of religion at Missouri State involves many subjects and approaches, is interdisciplinary in method, and global in reach. As an academic discipline, we do not "teach religion" from a faith perspective; we study and teach about various religions in a fair and sensitive manner. All students, irrespective of their personal convictions or faith commitments, are welcome to participate in courses offered by the department. The faculty is dedicated to teaching excellence and pledges to give students individualized attention and the best service of any academic department on campus.
