Undergraduate Students Taking Graduate Classes-Mixed Credit/Senior Permission
Additional Policy Effective August 1, 2016
Mixed Credit (Accelerated Graduate Programs): Students admitted into an approved accelerated graduate degree program may have a limited number of 600-level or higher courses counted toward both an undergraduate and graduate degree.
Mixed Credit (General): Undergraduate students who meet all the admission requirements of a graduate degree or certificate program other than the completion of a baccalaureate degree may receive permission to take up to six hours of mixed (undergraduate and graduate) credit without first being admitted to a specific graduate program.
Senior Permission: Undergraduate students who have accumulated at least 90 hours from Missouri State or another accredited institution may be permittedto take a maximum of 12 credits of 600-level or higher courses for graduate credit.

Additional Information and Procedures
Semester Enrollment Status
Senior Permission for Graduate Credit: Graduate classes will not count toward undergraduate enrollment status.
Mixed Credit: Graduate classes will count toward undergraduate enrollment status.
Semester Load Limitations
Senior Permission for Graduate Credit: Maximum of 9 hours of graduate level credit and a maximum of 15 hours of combined graduate and undergraduate credit in a semester.
Mixed Credit: University overload policy applies.
Financial Aid Eligibility
It is highly recommended that students who receive any type of financial aid and enroll in classes for Senior Permission or Mixed Credit contact the Financial Aid Office with any questions.
GPA and Degree Applicability
Senior Permission for Graduate Credit: Included in the graduate GPA only. Cannot count toward completion of any undergraduate degree requirement. May count toward an MSU graduate degree or certificate program with approval of the Graduate Program Director.
Mixed Credit: Included in both undergraduate and graduate GPA. Will count toward completion of all General Baccalaureate Degree Requirements. May count toward completion of specific undergraduate major/minor requirements with approval of Department Head. May count toward an MSU graduate degree or certificate program with approval of the Graduate Program Director.
- Completed form with all approving signatures must be taken to the Office of the Registrar, Carrington Hall, room 320.
- Student must complete the process by registering for the class through the normal registration process.
- Additional registration blocks such as course requires permission; unmet prerequisite; program restriction; no seat available in class, etc. must be resolved with the department offering the class before registration can be processed.
- Deadline for approval is the end of the Change of Schedule Period for the course(s). Senior Permission for Graduate Credit and Mixed Credit cannot be retroactively granted after the Change of Schedule Period has ended without special permission from the Graduate Dean.
