Swimming Lessons

Whether you have never swam before or you want to brush up on your swimming stroke, the Aquatic Center is the perfect place to learn! Foster Recreation Center membership is required to enroll in swimming lessons.

Student/Employee Group Swimming Lessons

Two levels of group swimming lessons are offered to MSU students and employees:

  1. Beginner: The beginner course focuses on the basic fundamentals of swimming, including the back float, treading water and simple swimming strokes.
  2. Intermediate: The intermediate class focuses on refining the skills learned in the beginner course, working on rotary breathing, and lap swimming techniques.
Registration Fee: $40
Open to: FRC Members
Class Length: 45 min.
Class Frequency: Once per week

Private and semi-private swimming lessons

The Bill R. Foster and Family Recreation Center offers private swim lessons for adults and children year-round.

Private lessons are designed for the swimmer who may feel uncomfortable in the group lesson setting or for participants who need additional assistance in refining strokes beyond the intermediate level. Lessons are scheduled at a time that works best for the participant.

All lessons will be held at the Aquatic Center. Lesson times are scheduled at the Welcome Center during registration based on facility, instructor, and participant availability.

Fee: Lessons can be purchased in packages of 2 or 5 sessions at a time.

2 Lessons: $40
5 Lessons: $90
