This section of the Provost Website includes two calendars, which will be very important for tenure track faculty and those faculty interested in applying for promotion. The eligibility check for both tenure and promotion is being handled differently. Deans are maintaining the records which are needed in order to notify the Provost Office of those who will be applying for tenure and/or promotion. Faculty will use the application form provided in this section as a cover page for the portfolio to be submitted to the departmental personnel committee on or before October 10, 2008 pursuant to departmental guidelines and procedures. Faculty will not receive a form from our office indicating eligibility for tenure and/or promotion.

Second, we encourage everyone to examine both the 2008-2009 calendar and the 2009-2010 calendars as all faculty seeking tenure and/or promotion will have external evaluations as part of the review process. We have included a date on this year's calendar of March 31, 2009 for conversations to begin with Department Heads on selecting external reviewers. The list is to be finalized between August 1-30, 2008 so that there will be sufficient time to solicit external reviews from the approved list. Finally, we encourage all faculty to continue to visit this site for up-dates on new faculty opportunities and policy documents which further describe the process for external reviews and other pertinent processes for faculty to become familiar with as they prepare their materials for tenure and/or promotion.
