All Philosophy Scholarships are offered in the spring semester and are restricted to philosophy majors only. To apply, fill out a Philosophy Department scholarship application form available in the department office or online here in PDF format. Bring the completed form to the Philosophy Department by the posted deadline. Applications are evaluated by a scholarship committee. Winners will be notified by mail and presented their award at the Spring Awards Reception held in the Philosophy Department conference room on the last day of spring semester classes.

William R. Brown Scholarship

Available: One per year
Value: $500
Funding: Friends of Philosophy Department.
Criteria: Student must be a full-time junior or senior philosophy major with at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and a 3.4 grade point average in Philosophy.

Renewable? Yes - previous recipient may apply, but renewal is not automatic.

Robert A. Foster Scholarship

Available: One per Year
Value:   $1000
Funding: Robert A. Foster Foundation
Criteria:  Student must be a full-time junior or senior philosophy major with a 2.0 cumulative GPA and a 3.0 GPA in Philosophy. Financial need is considered.
