For the past three seasons, the Hawthorne Trio has hosted a residential string chamber music camp for middle- and high-school students known as "String Fling." After a very successful term with 58 students in 2002, the camp grew in 2003 and was split into two age groups: students completing grades 7, 8 and 9 and those completing 10, 11 and 12. The emphasis is on string chamber music, with fast-paced activities, coaching, master classes and entertainment provided by faculty. The "Fling" is an effort to attain a meaningful experience in musical growth in a very short time.
The String Fling application deadline was July 1, 2009.
Please include a $25 check or money order made payable to Missouri State University for the nonrefundable application fee (does not apply to tuition).
Students will live on campus in a Missouri State residence hall. Three meals will be served daily. A staff of counselors will supervise residence hall life.
