Competition Rules

Young High School Artist Competition Rules and Information

  1. Email Dr. Heyboer at JillHeyboer@MissouriState.edu with your name, repertoire, accompanist, and timing.
  2. There is no charge to enter the competition.
  3. All entrants must be present and accounted for by 9:00 am on the day of the competition (TBA, 2018) at Ellis Recital Hall on the campus of Missouri State University.
  4. Each entrant may provide their own accompanist. If this is not possible, a professional accompanist will be provided for them for a fee of $25. All pieces for flute and piano must be performed with that instrumentation.
  5. Each entrant must provide one copy of the score for the judges. It does not need to be an original copy.
  6. Only one movement of a piece may be performed. The time limit for the performance is 7 minutes, including taking and exiting the stage. Judges have the right to stop the entrant’s performance after that amount of time. Cuts in the music may be made by the performer.
  7. The results of the competition will be announced immediately before lunch. Prize money will be awarded at this time.
  8. The judges do not have to award all three prizes, but will be encouraged to do so. All decisions by the judges are final.
