GENERAL FUNCTION

The Director of Assessment, Accreditation, and Curriculum – West Plains is responsible for planning, coordinating, designing, and providing leadership and support for university assessment activities related to student learning both inside and outside the classroom and to the institution. The Director provides support to faculty and the curriculum committee in the development of courses and programs to ensure proposals meet all requirements. The Director provides essential assessment and evaluation training and support in the development and implementation of effective assessment strategies at the course, program and institutional levels and assures compliance with institutional expectations. Working with faculty, administration, and staff, the Director develops and supports institutional strategies aimed at improving student learning, program effectiveness, university effectiveness and student outcomes.

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Master’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Student Affairs or related field is required. An equivalent combination of years of experience and education may be considered for substitution of educational requirements.

Experience: At least three years of experience in an academic environment is required. At least three years of experience in assessment practices is required. One year of experience in accreditation with national accreditors is required.

Skills:  Knowledge of assessment practices is required. The ability to support assessment efforts of faculty and staff is required. Technical writing and business communication skills are required. The ability to use software or the ability to learn is essential. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information in verbal, written, and graphic forms to individuals of varying backgrounds are required. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team are required. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Coordinate outcomes assessment planning and reporting processes for instructional and non-instructional areas.

2. Maintain oversight of the assessment functions of the college to meet the standards of national accreditor, the Higher Learning Commission (HLC)

3. Serve as the accreditation liaison officer for HLC.

4. Support reporting for strategic planning, accreditation, institutional research, and assessment.

5. Works with the Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness in building and maintaining data visualization tools to support the strategic plan and assessment process.

6. Work with various campus constituents to facilitate usage of institutional data for assessment and strategic planning in alignment with the Missouri State University-West Plains mission.

7. Provide professional development for faculty and staff on assessment practices and data analysis and interpretation.

8. Serve as an administrator for assessment software.

9. Develop and update policies and procedures for assessment.

10. Work with faculty to package curriculum proposals for Curriculum Committee meetings.

11. Facilitates a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.

12. Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses required by the Vice-Chancellor of Academic Affairs.

13. Contributes to the overall success of the Academic Affairs Office by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

The Director of Assessment, Accreditation, and Curriculum - West Plains supervises professional and support staff.
