GENERAL FUNCTION
The Research Professor is a member of the ranked faculty with the highest academic rank, who has a cumulative record of peer-reviewed research publications or peer-reviewed creative activities appropriate to the discipline, and of substantial services appropriate to the discipline. The Research Professor engages in scholarly activities and is expected to demonstrate professional productivity in research, based upon the availability of resources and consistent with the mission of the University.
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum acceptable qualifications for the position of Research Professor are prescribed in the Faculty Handbook. Positions associated with this position classification may be located in facilities requiring the position to be designated “sensitive” as defined by University policy. Positions associated with this position classification may include job duties, responsibilities, or activities that are subject to export control regulations. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential duties and responsibilities of the Research Professor are assigned by the academic Department Head or Director. The Research Professor contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
SUPERVISION
The Research Professor receives administrative supervision from the Department Head or Director and may exercise supervision of professional research staff, graduate assistants, undergraduate majors, or student employees.
