What Type Of Positions Are Available?

Administrative, professional, clerical, technical, and service positions are posted by the Office of Human Resources whenever a vacancy occurs. For faculty positions, please contact the Office of the Provost, Carrington Hall 209, (417) 836-5119, or preferably the department of your discipline.

How Do I Find Out About Job Opportunities?

Applicants interested in job opportunities at Missouri State can learn of openings:

How Do I Apply?

The vacancy announcement lists the qualifications for each position available. Unless otherwise specified in the vacancy announcement, you will need to apply for positions in the Office of Human Resources by completing a standard application form. Once an application form is filed with the Office of Human Resources, it is not necessary to complete a new form each time you wish to be considered for a position. In addition to the application form, you will be asked to complete an Affirmative Action/ Equal Employment Opportunity (AA/EEO) form. The AA/EEO form is voluntary and may also be obtained in the Office of Human Resources.

Each administrative and professional position that is posted or advertised specifies the application procedures for you to complete. The application procedures may require submitting a resumé, transcript(s), and professional references. Any additional information which you feel may be helpful, such as certificates of education, may be included as well.

It is your responsibility to monitor the vacancy announcements and to file the appropriate paperwork by the posted closing date to be considered for a specific position.

Where and When Do I Apply?

Applications are available in the Office of Human Resources, Carrington Hall 118. Applications are accepted between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. After you file an application with the Office of Human Resources, it should be noted that it is your responsibility to notify the office at (417) 836-5102 whenever you wish to be considered for a position.

Should I Apply If I Do Not Meet Minimum Acceptable Qualifications?

Only apply for positions for which you meet the minimum acceptable qualifications. If you do not meet the minimum qualifications, you will be screened out of the application process.

How Long Will My Application Be Considered?

Your application will remain in our files for two years. You may wish, however, to periodically update your application if new information is available. Changes in your telephone number or address should be updated immediately. Remember, you are responsible for notifying the Office of Human Resources of your interest in applying for positions.

Testing for Clerical Positions

All clerical positions require skills testing. These tests include basic computer and clerical skills and a keyboarding test.  The tests are given every Monday morning.  You should arrive by 8:45 for testing, to begin promptly at 9:00a.m. in the Office of Human Resources, Carrington Hall 118. Testing usually concludes at 12:00 p.m. No appointment to take the test is needed. The written test results are valid for two years.

Parking

Visitor parking is located in Lot 13, on the corner of Monroe and National.  All parking spaces in the visitor parking lot are metered.
