Summary

The All-USA Academic Team is selected by USA TODAY in cooperation with four higher education associations.  The students selected to the first, second, and third teams are featured in a special section of the newspaper.  The 20 first-team members are invited to receive their awards at a ceremony in Washington, D.C.

Requirements:
  • Excel in scholarship and leadership on and off campus
  • Must have started a project during his/her college career that was publicly recognized

Unlike scholarships, fellowships, or grants, the All-USA College Academic Team is a recognition honoring students for what they have done in college, as opposed to what they plan or hope to do upon graduation.  Aside from tax liability, there are no strings attached to the cash award.  Students are not selected based on the intended use of the award.

To apply for this award, one must:

  • Have a recommendation from a nominating professor
  • Write an essay about his/her project
  • Obtain up to three (3) letters of recommendation
  • Acquire a blank application for the award (see Contact Information)
