My name is Melissa Ohlfest, and I am the Graduate Assistant in the Student Orientation, Advisement and Registration (SOAR) office. In addition to working with the SOAR program, I will also be working with the Family Association throughout the year by sending the E-Newsletters and serve as a contact for answering questions or concerns.
I fell in love with Missouri State University on a campus tour. I recently graduated with my undergraduate degree here at Missouri State University in May 2008, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology. I am very active in my campus community. I helped create new organizations on campus, while still involved in many others. I was also a University Ambassador for 3 years allowing me a plethora of knowledge about our University. I take great pride in the Maroon and White.
I am currently pursuing a Master of Education in Student Affairs and plan on graduating in May 2010. The graduate program in Student Affairs here at Missouri State is designed to develop professionals who will work on college and university campuses, in a multitude of areas. In addition to my studies and my work with the Family Association, I will also be working to help plan the overall SOAR program for the summer. During SOAR, I will work specifically with the portion of the program designed for the parents and families of students.
It is my hope that my experiences at the university will enable me to assist you with any concerns. Feel free to contact me if I can be of assistance or help point you in the right direction.
Thank you for your interest in the Family Association, and I look forward to working with you in the future.
