The mission of the Missouri State Family Association is to provide parents and family members an opportunity to play an active supporting role in the education of their student, to provide forum for fellowship and networking with other parents, and to further the educational goal of Missouri State University by improving communication between parents and the University community.
The Family Association provides parents and family members of Missouri State students with several great services.
- We inform members about Missouri State programs, services, and events through our Family Connection blog, our webpage, our Facebook page, special emails, and other communication channels.
- We invite members to attend special parent and family events such as our annual Family Weekend.
- We provide opportunities to participate in Missouri State programs, assume leadership roles, and support important Missouri State Family Association initiatives.
- We help serve as a first point of contact for parents and family members, help them answer questions, and direct them to appropriate departments and resources for further assistance.
Priscilla is the Coordinator of Parent and Family Programs at Missouri State University. Her years of experience in campus life--as well as her Southern hospitality--help her build strong family connections to campus. A graduate of Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi, Priscilla previously worked with parents and families at Millsaps College and the University of South Florida; she has also worked for Kappa Delta Sorority’s National Headquarters. While at Kappa Delta, Childress was the Information Technology Manager and worked in event planning.
“Parent and Family Programs helps parents and students embrace this new chapter in their lives and stay connected in unique, inspiring, and, most of all, fun ways!” says Childress. “I’m looking forward to the opportunity to connect the families of Missouri State students with the university in a way that engages them 100% in their student’s college career.”
Priscilla volunteers her time with the Kappa Delta National Leadership Team, St. Jude Children's Hospital and the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Priscilla is the mother of two daughters - Lane, a graduate student, and Ruth Ann, a college junior.

Additionally, she develops and moderates sessions for SOAR's family orientation program.
Erica is a recent graduate of Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and Social Policy. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education and plans to graduate in May 2014.
Although moving to Springfield from the Chicagoland area was quite a change for her, she fell in love with the campus and the community after my first visit during the spring of 2012. She believes the small-town-feel of Springfield provides an excellent atmosphere for learning and development.
