We are excited to see you on campus for Family Weekend 2017,  September 15-17th. There are many activities planned, with more being posted weekly. Tickets for Family Weekend activities are on sale. There is a cost associated with some events. The Student Showcase & Dinner and the Bear Family Tailgate are SOLD-OUT!


Friday, September 15

(all events are tentative and subject to change)

Check–In and Information

4:00pm – 7:00pm
Plaster Student Union, N.E. Lounge (across from the Info Desk)
Pick up your tickets for weekend events and have your first Family Weekend photo taken at our Social Media Photo Center.

Start out the weekend by getting your first picture in front of the Bear Statue. The picture will be printed out for you immediately. Use the hashtag #MSUFW17 when you take a photo on Instagram and your photo will be sent to the printer. There will also be volunteers available to take your photo.

BearWear @ the Bookstore

7:30am – 8:00pm
Get ready for “BearWear Friday” –a longstanding Missouri State tradition—by heading to the Bookstore for your MSU merchandise! Then, take a picture of you and your family in your BearWear for a chance to be featured on the MSU website!

Foster Recreation Center Open House

Get active and enjoy a workout (or a swim) with your student at Foster Recreation Center! Families will have the opportunity to use the FRC to workout with their students. A signed waiver of consent is needed to use the facility. Family members can fill out the waiver form at the front desk of the center.

Book Talk with Nancy Allen

Missouri State Libraries
Join us for a wonderful book talk by Nancy Allen, renown author and popular Missouri State professor. Nancy Allen practiced law for 15 years as Assistant Missouri Attorney General and Assistant Prosecutor in her native Ozarks. She has tried over 30 jury trials, including murder and sexual offenses, and is now a law instructor at Missouri State University. Her first novel, The Code of the Hills, was published by HarperCollins in 2014. The Wages of Sin, is the third book in her Ozarks mystery series. Her newest novel, with James Patterson, will be released on March 19, 2018: Juror #3. The Code of the Hills will be available for purchase.

Get ready to tee off as you participate in the annual Family Weekend Golf Scramble sponsored by Foster Recreation Center.  Create your own 2-person team, and sign up for $57.00 (including cart and tax), $30.00 for individual (includes cart and tax).  Your registration will include 9 holes and a golf cart for you and your partner to get around the course. Tickets are required.

Join the Traditions Council and Parent & Family Programs in making memories and indulge in a day of fun with your entire family during one of MSU’s most exciting traditions, the Family Tailgate in BearFest Village. Join the Traditions Council and Parent & Family Programs in the Traditions Council tent (location to be determinted) for lunch and giveaways. While in BearFest Village, take a picture with Boomer, enjoy a Pride Band performance, and get in the Bear spirit as you take part in the Bear Walk, the time when the football team heads to the field! BearFest Village, the area where on-campus tailgating takes place, is located between Glass Hall and Carrington Hall. Families are encouraged to bring chairs. Coolers are allowed. SOLD OUT

The Inclusive Excellence Leadership Scholars Family Reception is an opportunity for family members of current scholars to meet with Multicultural Services and discuss current programming for the scholarship. Get your outdoor supplies at the 300,000 square-foot Bass Pro Shop, experience history first-hand as you go on the “Battle of Springfield Driving Tour,” or experience the “home of the throwed rolls” in the Ozarks.
