2007 Excellence in Advising Award Recipients
Faculty
- Dr. Kris Sutliff
- Comments from her nomination packet
- I have no doubt that Dr. Sutliff deserves to be among the ranks of the nation's top
advisors, for she is a truly great advisor.
- Thank you for the opportunity to give praise where praise is due and give back just
a little to someone who has given so much to me.
- Advising is a very rare gift, and Dr. Sutliff has it in spades.
- Aside from her knowledge of the university, classes and credits, she really cares
about her students.
- Dr. Sutliff took me under her wing long before I was even accepted to Missouri State
University. I approached her with seemingly endless questions about the university,
the English department, and what major I should pursue, and she graciously and enthusiastically
guided me throughout the college decision process. By the time my senior year of high
school ended, I had been accepted to several prestigious colleges throughout the country,
but none displayed the forthright honesty and commitment to student success that Dr.
Sutliff did.
Staff
- Alisa Trotter
- Comments from her nomination packet
- She is a true advocate of the students and is concerned that they all be treated in
a fair and equitable fashion.
- She uses her excellent interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with her
students, even though she has a heavy advising load of over 500 advisees.
- With every session we've had, I've never fell like just another number she was trying
to move quickly out of the door.
- Alisa has helped me make some of the most difficult decisions I have ever had to make.
She has always gone above and beyond my expectations.
- She has not only helped with choosing a degree program and classes but has also been
a cheerleader for my personal accomplishments.
- Alisa has been very helpful in getting me back into college after a 20+ year absence.
Without her help I probably would no longer be attending MSU.
- Alisa always made me feel like a priority, and kept an open mind during our advising
sessions.
