Taking time to read and understand your evaluation will assist you when you are preparing to meet with your academic advisor. Please take your transfer credit evaluation to your advisor meeting.
Reading your credit evaluation
When you view the evaluation of your credit, you will see that each college you have attended will be evaluated and listed by attendance period and college name. For example, if you attended college A from fall 2007 through spring 2008 and college B from fall 2008 through spring 2009, the first college evaluated on your worksheet would be College A for attendance period 200740 (fall 2007). This first grouping of evaluated courses would be followed by College A for attendance period 200820 (spring 2008), College B for 200840 (fall 2008) and College B for 200920 (spring 2009).
You should have received your BearPass Number with your admission letter. This BearPass Number is required to set up your My Missouri State account. You may login to your My Missouri State account at my.missouristate.edu to view your transcript, which will show your transcript totals, attempted hours, passed hours, earned hours, GPA hours, quality points and GPA. It will also reflect your total institution, total transfer, and overall GPA, which is helpful in determining your registration date. For more information, please contact your academic advisor.
General education program (GEP) course codes
General education program (GEP) courses fulfill Missouri State general education requirements as indicated below, but do not have a specific Missouri State University course equivalency. Refer to the general education requirements in the Missouri State catalog or on our General Education website to see how the GEP categories correspond with those requirements. Some majors and degrees require specific general education courses that the GEP code may not cover, which means even if you receive GEP credit, you may still have to take a specific MSU general education course for your major. For more details, please speak with your academic advisor.

Professional education unit (PEU) course codes
If a course does not have a direct equivalency, but the Missouri State College of Education decides that substantial similarity exists between a course taken at the community college with a DESE approved education program and an Missouri State course with respect to MoSTEP competencies, a professional education program (PEU) code will be assigned to that community college course and used to substitute for the Missouri State course in a given undergraduate education degree program.
Students who wish to appeal the evaluation or transferability of a PEU course may do so through the College of Education within the Education Advisement Center, Hill Hall Room 202. Students who are not pursuing a BS in Ed, whose evaluations show PEU courses, should go to the Office of Admissions for reevaluation for elective credit.

General (GEN) course codes
You may also have general (GEN) course codes on your equivalency worksheet. See below for definitions of different codes.
|
GEN 000 |
Elective credit: course transfers but does not have a direct equivalency to a Missouri State course. |
|
GEN 007 |
Non-transferable courses - credit not accepted. |
|
GEN 010 |
To compensate for fractions. |
|
GEN 011 |
Lower division general education requirements have been met by completion of an Associate of Arts (AA) degree. |
|
GEN 012 |
Student is exempt from general education requirements (lower and upper division) by completion of a bachelor's degree at a regionally accredited college or university. |
|
GEN 013 |
Lower division general education requirements have been met by completion of an approved general education program. |
|
GEN 016 |
You are exempt from lower division general education requirement through completion of an Associate of Arts (AA) degree at a regionally accredited private college or university. |
|
GEN 042 |
Statewide 42-hour general education core has been met. Student must take HST 121 or HST 122 to fulfill Missouri State's general education requirements. |
|
GEN 088 |
This indicates completion of an Associate of Science (AS) or Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree. These degrees do not fulfill general education requirements at Missouri State. Students who plan to pursue a Bachelor of Applied Science degree with a major in Technology Management at Missouri State may receive additional transfer credit and should contact the Department of Technology and Construction Management at 417-836-5121 for information. |
| GEN 090 | Lower division general education requirements as well as 12 hours of Professional Education requirements by completion of an Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) degree. |
Appeal of transferability or course equivalencies
We recommend you speak with your academic advisor if you believe an elective credit course has significant similarity to a Missouri State course or that a course was incorrectly evaluated. If it is determined that a course should be re-evaluated, access the online transfer credit reevaluation system through your my.missouristate.edu portal, click on the academics tab, and select the appropriate link on the transfer channel. You must have an advisor release to access this system (meaning you must have met with your academic advisor at least once before you will be allowed to submit a course for reevaluation of credit). For instructions on how to use the online reevaluation and preapproval systems go to these websites:

Plus/minus grades
Effective fall 2009 the university made a change to reflect plus/minus grading. Learn more about grading and the credit point system.
Repeat policy
A student may repeat any of the courses that he or she has taken at Missouri State University. All attempts at the course and the grades earned (including those resulting in W, I, and Z) appear on the transcript. The grade from the most recent attempt at the course (though not an W, I, or Z) will be the one that counts in GPA calculations. For example, if a student takes the course four times and gets a D, B, C, and W, in that order, then the C would be the official grade used when calculating the student’s grade point average. Also, a course that has been repeated will only be counted once in the student’s total credit hours earned.
The repeat policy is applicable to transfer credit as well as credit earned at Missouri State. For example, if a student earns a C in a course at Missouri State and repeats an equivalent course at another institution, the C will be removed from the calculation of the Missouri State GPA. The transfer grade, however, will be included only in the transfer and combined grade point averages. Read more about the repeat policy.
