Timeline for Students Admitted for the Fall Semester

Admitted student timeline

The following timeline outlines the information and services you can expect from us in the months to come, as well as some steps that you should take to prepare for your first semester at Missouri State University! Also helpful are our Admitted Student Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).

After your admission:
  • You will receive information regarding our housing policy and residence halls from the Department of Residence Life, Housing and Dining Services (commonly referred to as the "Housing Office"). This will include information on the housing application process and will provide instructions that you must follow to ensure that your admission date will be used as your priority date for housing.
  • If you qualify for a scholarship based on the information available to us when you are admitted, you should receive a scholarship offer letter and acceptance form from our director of financial aid.  (If you improve your rank, grade point average, and/or tests scores prior to January 15, we will use that information to re-evaluate your scholarship eligibility.)
  • If you have an ACT composite score of 27 or higher and are in either the top 10% of your senior class or have a 3.90 grade point average on a 4.00 scale, you will receive an offer of admission to our Honors College. Invitations will be mailed beginning in late October through March.

September: The registration deadline for students who may wish to take the October ACT is in September. Visit the ACT website for specific registration and testing dates. The October test is the last from which we can accept scores to determine eligibility for two Missouri State University scholarships: The Presidential and Hutchens/SGA Centennial Leaders Scholarships.

November: The registration deadline for students who may wish to take the December ACT is in November. Visit the ACT website for specific registration and testing dates. The December test is the last from which we can accept scores to determine eligibility for three Missouri State University automatic scholarships: The Board of Governors, Provost, and Deans’ Scholarships.

December: December 1st is the application deadline for the Presidential, Multicultural Leadership, and Hutchens/SGA Centennial Leaders Scholarships.

January: Students who are eligible for Missouri State University automatic scholarships (Board of Governors, Provost, and Deans’) must apply for admission by January 15th in order to be considered for those scholarships.

March: March is a busy month! The application deadline for Missouri State General and Departmental Scholarships is March 1st. Also, students with a completed housing application (including paid deposit) received by March 1st will maintain their admission date as their priority date for room assignments; students who submit their housing application on or after March 2nd will have the date their completed housing application is received as their priority date for room assignments. Make sure you've completed your FAFSA form in time to be received by the processor no later than March 31.

April: Watch the mail for a Students Orientation, Advisement and Registration (SOAR) invitation for you and your family. Also, housing assignments for new students begin. Additional assignments will be made in June, July, and August.

May: The Office of Student Financial Aid will begin sending award letters to students who applied by March 31.

June: SOAR is this month or next! Be sure to ask your high school to send your final transcript with your date of graduation directly to the Office of Admissions.

July: Make sure your medical history form is completed and mailed to the Taylor Health and Wellness Center. If you participated in a June or July SOAR session, you should get a letter by the end of the month telling you who your academic advisor will be. Also, if you received a loan, you can meet the entrance interview requirement on the Web at www.missouristate.edu/financialaid/LoanDL.htm by clicking the "Entrance Counseling" option.

August: Move-in weekend and the beginning of classes! Be sure to attend all the exciting events during the weekend. Best of luck in the Fall semester!
