Constitution Approval Process

Organization Constitution updates for organizations can be initated for a variety of reasons including but not limited to:

  • Procedural Change
  • Organization Formal Name Change
  • New officer positions

At the bottom of this page, you will find the standards for constitutions provided by or office, including a sample made to serve as a model for your own constitution

Step 1: Follow Amendment Processes

Organizations have pre-established Amendment processes within their constitutions, consult your current constitution for the organzation's approval that is required for amendments.

Step 2: Email to Office of Student Engagment

After gaining organization approval send the edits to the current Co-Curricular Graduate Assistant at: StudentOrganizations@MissouriState.edu. The GA will review the edits to ensure they are in complaince with university regulations, and Student Organization Policy.

Step 3: Review Edits (If Applicable)

If the Graduate Assistant makes any edits to your constitution, the document will be returned to the organization for review. Once both parties are pleased with the final draft, the constitution will be submitted to Student Government Association.

Step 4: SGA Approval

After this step the OSE will provide the constitution to SGA for approval in their next business meeting. The organization president will recieve an official approval documemnt after the meeting concludes if the motion passes.

Step 5: BearLink Training (New Organizations Only)

If you are a new organization that does not yet have a BearLink page, this is a crucial final step in the approval process. New organization executive board members must be trained by the Co-Curricular Involvement GA before their org is officially recognized by the OSE, and before their BearLink page goes live. You can reach out to StudentOrganizations@missouristate.edu to schedule this final training.
